Which Organization? Many people ask which organization "should" they compete in. It is our opinion that this is a very personalized question as each organization offers great unique benefits. I hope that this will provide some insights into those benefits to assist you in making a choice as to which organization fits your own personal criteria. We have compiled a list of the major organizations in fitness with some information about their contest history, past champions and rounds of criteria to be judged.

ORGANIZATIONS IN FITNESS

The Fitness America Pageant:Established in 1989 by Lou Zwick. The Fitness America Pageant is the second longest running fitness event to date. Current professional level contests in the United States are The Fitness America Pageant and The Fitness Universe Pageant. They also have professional championships in other countries. They have local qualifiers nationwide as well as international events. The Fitness America Pageant consistently has over 100 qualified competitors each year at this event. It was Wally Boyko that originated the first competitions held in conjunction with his fitness conventions in Las Vegas in the early 1980's. Current professional level contests in the United States are Ms. National Fitness, Ms. Fitness USA, and Ms. Fitness World. Their is actually a trademark on the name "Ms. Fitness" which is why it is the only competition with that label. Competitors start off competing in the NPC, once a competitor qualifies to turn pro, they then compete in the IFBB. At the professional level, competitors must also qualify to compete in the Fitness Olympia. The Fitness Olympia is the most elite show in this organization, with less than 20 qualified athletes competing for the Fitness Olympia title. Current professional level contests in the United States include The Jan Tana Classic, The Fitness International, The IFBB Atlantic City Pro Fitness, and the Fitness Olympia competition.
